About Me

I'm a published writer and literature scholar who genuinely loves helping people write better. Whether you're untangling a tricky essay, making sense of a difficult text, or trying to say what you actually mean, we'll work through it together and you'll come away understanding why strong writing works, not just how to fix this one assignment. I'm patient, I'm precise, and I care about getting you to your own best sentences. I've been the nervous student staring at a blank page too, and I promise it gets easier.

Education

I hold a BA from Reed College, where my thesis examined aesthetics and morality in Nabokov's Laughter in the Dark. I completed an MA (M1) at the Sorbonne on Bataille, Blanchot, and Huysmans, and am now finishing my M2 in comparative literature there, with a thesis tracing Russian philosophical influences on Bataille. I read and work across English, French, and Russian. My training is in close reading, literary analysis, and building arguments: the core of strong academic and admissions writing.

Teaching Experience

I've worked across education levels, from 7th-grade to college-level essay writing. I've worked both as a teaching assistant in a Waldorf classroom and as a private home tutor in Paris. I hold editorial roles at Fence and Vita Poetica, where I work with writers to strengthen structure, argument, and voice: effectively one-on-one writing instruction. As a freelance editor and translator, I coach clients through academic essays, personal statements, and creative work.

Interests

My essays and fiction have been published in print and online, as well as award-nominated. Outside of writing, I illustrate, assist on photography shoots in Paris, and am learning Serbian. I read widely across French, Russian, and English literature, and I'm happiest somewhere between a museum, a bookshop, and a good café.

I love teaching and explaining science at every level!
